Why only three gifts?!?

I do not understand the reasoning behind only allowing us to send or receive three gifts. I get more gifts and lose them when I reach the limit. I realize you want people to buy gems but limiting the gifts is not the way to do it. Im playing for now but that gift limit feels like a deal breaker to me. There should also be a confirmation before spending gems like the other games I play.
